Why is loess such an important aeolian deposit on today's Earth?

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: Loess is very widespread. It largely resulted from the drying of Pleistocene landscape after the glaciers had melted and wind was able to move previously covered materials. It now occurs far outside of glaciated zones. Loess creates soils which are agriculturally fertile.
