Discuss the paradox of culture and diversity.

What will be an ideal response?

Strong cultures often tend to recruit new members who share important commonalities with existing members, making diversity less likely. Even when members with differences are recruited they are quickly socialized to think and act like their colleagues. When organizations actively seek to promote and achieve diversity, it can be a threat to the culture as long-held values and traditions are challenged. Only when valuing diversity is deeply woven into the culture as a salient and pervasive value can strong cultures also embrace diversity.
