Weapons of mass destruction include nuclear, biological, and chemical weapons. An attack on a nuclear power plant is an example of a nuclear weapon of mass destruction. Biological weapons of mass destruction can be bacteria, viruses, or biological toxins. Diseases such as smallpox and anthrax could infect large numbers of people over a large geographical area. Chemical weapons of mass destruction have different levels of toxicity and lethality, and there is a variety of chemicals that can be used as a WMD. Mustard gas is an example of a chemical weapon.
