Compare and contrast indentured servitude with black slavery. Why did Chesapeake colonists switch from the former to the latter?

What will be an ideal response?

Indentured servitude was short term contract labor, usually involving white Europeans. Slavery was lifetime inheritable service only involving Africans. Consider the switch as a result of the need for labor, the declining availability of indentured servants, the growing availability of blacks (becoming less expensive), the need for a more reliable labor force, and that English racial attitudes seemed to justify slavery for blacks.
