What is the difference between distress and eustress? Provide an example of each

Good stress, termed eustress, helps us cope with the challenges faced each day. Examples of good stress may include staying alert while driving to school or work, bringing tasks to mind that must be done, and assisting others during crisis. Eustress helps us feel energized, alert, in control, and able to make judgments and decisions. Bad stress or distress is considered a danger or foe. When distress is experienced repeatedly or for a long duration, pathological changes may begin to occur. Examples of distress may include marriage preparations, divorce proceedings, raising a family, on-the-job difficulties, and the serious illness and/or death of a family member or close friend.
