Explain the difference between percent and valid percent. Why is this difference important?

Percentages are based on all cases while valid percentages are determined using only those cases that provided data. This is important when missing cases are present. Missing cases do not tell us anything, and including these cases in our calculations provides an inaccurate representation of valid responses.
