What was the Arab Spring? What were its root causes? What nations in the region have been the most impacted by the Arab Spring?

What will be an ideal response?

The Arab Spring began in late -2010 and crested during the spring of 2011. Its root causes were (1) corrupt
governments where people had no democratic recourse at the ballot box, (2) widespread unemployment among young, well-educated people and (3) a rise in food prices. Popular revolts resulted in the overthrow of regimes in Tunisia, Libya and most importantly in the most populous Arab nation in the region, Egypt. The Arab Spring was also the catalyst which began the Syrian Civil War as thousands of Sunni protestors were massacred by government troops loyal to Bashar al-Assad, setting off cycles of violence which has resulted in the complete breakdown of Syria into a fractured, war-torn land of chaos.
