Describe the process for masking off a quarter panel with a flush mount molding on the stationary side glass.
What will be an ideal response?
It is often necessary to mask up openings such as windshield and backlights with the glass out. To do so, special care should be taken to protect not only the inside of the vehicle, but also the adhesive application shelf of the glass. Stationary glass adhesives should not be placed over topcoats. An adhesive primer is applied prior to applying the glass adhesive, and it must not be placed over finish.
First, apply masking tape to cover the adhesive shelf; then apply masking paper in the
needed rows, from the bottom to the top. Each row should be sealed with masking tape; to do this it may be necessary to reach inside the vehicle to have one hand under the paper being sealed and the other pressing down the masking tape. All gaps and openings should be sealed.
