How is blood flow through a coronary artery improved by doing a balloon angioplasty?

What will be an ideal response?

A catheter with a balloon attached to it is inserted into a coronary artery that is blocked with plaque. The balloon is inflated and the plaque is compressed and this widens the lumen. The balloon is then deflated and the catheter is removed.
