Methods that can prevent the unauthorized practice of law include, stating that you are a paralegal to any and all clients you see, getting any answers to legal questions from a lawyer, having the supervising lawyer look through all the work you do, telling a lawyer “no” when you believe they are trying to delegate an improper task on you. Going through each of these things will help you, as a paralegal, learn about what needs to be conveyed to each client while at the same time ensure that you are being a part of the unauthorized practice of law.
