Most CASE tools can generate program code directly from diagrams and a central repository, and some tools are able to export the repository to a database management program, where the design can be implemented. Since you don’t know whether the new system will be developed in-house, it would be helpful to know more about this in advance. Perform research on the CASE tool you are using to learn what code-generation and export features are available, and describe your findings.

What will be an ideal response?

Answers will vary depending on the CASE tool. Visible Analyst does offer code generation, but in the academic edition, the options are limited to the “C” language or COBOL, neither of which would be very popular with today’s system developers. However, the export options are more powerful. For example, Visible Analyst can generate Visual Basic forms, as described below:

The standard edition of Visible Analyst is much more powerful, and code generation options currently include Visual Basic, C++, and Java.
