Define globalization and describe how it has changed the nature of work and economic activity. In your opinion (informed by evidence), is globalization a negative or positive force as it related to work and the economy? Be sure you cite evidence from the text to back up your opinion.
What will be an ideal response?
Vary. Globalization is a process whereby goods, information, people, communication, and forms of culture move across national boundaries. Work is dramatically impacted by globalization in the form of labor movement across boundaries, creation of a world market, creating a new middle class, further impoverishing poor countries, creating more goods, creating competition which can be fair or unfair, raising and lowering wages, increasing immigration as workers flow with jobs, etc. Students' opinions may vary, but will need to have evidence from the text to back them.
