Discuss the difference between amplitude and frequency of sound waves and what would be experienced by each quality.
What will be an ideal response?
The height, or amplitude, of a wave indicates the amount of vibration produced by the sound, which in turn is perceived as loudness by the listener. Low-amplitude waves are characteristic of soft sounds, and high-amplitude waves are perceived as loud. The frequency of the wave, or the number of cycles per unit of time, indicates wavelength. Wavelength corresponds to the perceived pitch of a sound.
