Explain the processes of self-regulation and self-monitoring.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Self-regulation requires students to stop, think about what they are doing, compare their behavior to a criterion, record the results of their comparison, and receive reinforcement for their behavior if it meets the criterion. Self-monitoring includes all of the preceding steps with the exception of dispensing reinforcement. Self-regulation techniques can be used across all grade levels and are appropriate for children in both special education and general education classrooms.
