Give three examples on how social workers currently help to ameliorate ecological destruction and other harms in their practice.

What will be an ideal response?

Ans: Currently, social workers in health care settings are working with individuals and families to help them address the effects of industrialization and pollution, e.g., due to increased rates of cancer and congenital defects. Social workers have also been involved in mediating conflicts due to environmental degradation, e.g., among newcomers who have migrated in response to these conditions, established dwellers and the nation-state. Finally, social work educators and practitioners are involved in cultivating ecological literacy in social work education and in promoting this literacy in their communities.
