How should one use poetry with children?

What will be an ideal response?

In general, one should have a clear purpose in mind for using a poem with children. In addition, it is important to set the mood for listening, to read the poem with feeling, and to be ready to read the poem several times. While having children memorize the poem is unnecessary, one might wish to create and share one’s own poetry with children.
