How do earthworms improve soil conditions?

What will be an ideal response?

Earthworms are scavengers that eat their way through the soil and digest organic debris. The worms improve soil by loosening its particles and by excreting tiny bits of organic matter that decomposers can easily break down. Excreted earthworm "castings" are sold as a natural fertilizer.
