Explain the reasons for mass migrations during the late nineteenth century

What will be an ideal response?

ANSWER:
Some of the major reasons for immigration (or emigration) in the nineteenth century were global population increases and pressure to support populations in modernizing or non-industrialized areas. Colonialism also played a role in the creation of European migration because administrative systems and businesses in emerging countries necessitated a bureaucratic increase. Hence in non-European countries such as Australia, New Zealand, and Argentina, the growth of a European population was greater. Also contributing to the population flow was the Irish potato famine, political revolutions and upheaval in the mid-nineteenth century in Europe, and anti-Semitism in Russia. People from areas of Europe that were traditionally slow to industrialize, such as Italy, Poland, and Scandinavia, also sought better economic opportunities, primarily in the United States. All of this was aided by the technology growth that made travel significantly easier, as well as transformations in farming technology that produced higher yields, in turn fueling the decreased mortality rate and bringing more population pressure to bear. Asian migration also played a significant role, as local wars and economic conditions made migration to the United States, Brazil, the Caribbean, and the East Indies seem desirable.
