Is robbery primarily a rational activity? Why or why not?
What will be an ideal response?
Research suggests that most robberies involve little planning and preparation. At the same time, it does appear that at least in some cases, there is some rational thought behind victim selection. For example, the majority of street robbers appear to target individuals also involved in law-breaking, because these individuals are unlikely to report their victimization to the police. Additionally, robbers who are motivated by a need for drugs often target drug dealers, particularly those whose retributive potential was weak.
