What is the prostate gland and what is its function?

What will be an ideal response?

The prostate gland is a round gland at the base of the bladder. It completely surrounds the first part of the urethra and produces prostatic fluid, which is a milky substance that makes up some of the volume of the semen. The prostatic fluid contains an antimicrobial substance that acts against bacteria in the woman's vagina, as well as a substance that activates enzymes in the head of a spermatozoon so that it can penetrate the woman's ovum to fertilize it.
