Explain the property of compressive strength as it pertains to clay.

What will be an ideal response?

Compressive strength depends on the type of clay used, how the units are made, and the temperature and duration of firing. In general, plastic clays used in the stiff-mud process produce units with higher compressive strengths. Higher burn temperatures produce higher compressive strengths in almost any clay or process used. Bricks vary in compressive strength from 1,500 psi (10.35 MN/m2) to more than 5,000 psi (34.50 MN/m2).
