Middle-income families have more resources and choices than low-income families. Middle income families have the following resources:
- access to better food options and health care, promoting better health and healthier well-being;
- more choices and better access to higher performing schools;
- more security, in safer neighborhoods;
- less stress;
- multiple outlets for healthy recreation; and
- better access to transportation, communication, and economic opportunities.
Families living in poverty have less access to all of the aforementioned resources.
