Describe three of the possible causes of underdevelopment that may be the result of slavery.

What will be an ideal response?

The first is that in Africa the slave trade radically slowed population growth hindering the people’s ability to trade among themselves, construct cities, and experience economic development. Another reason is that Africa lost a valuable resource in exchange for goods that were either useless or even destructive. Finally, the African slave trade deepened many of Africa’s internal distrust that remains a significant problem in Africa today.
