What programs do prisons have to deal with the parenting needs of female prisoners?
What will be an ideal response?
• Many prisons have established parenting programs. These programs often include training classes to improve parenting skills and suggest methods to "parent" from prison. One example is how to play the role of mother as teacher, by emphasizing the mother reading to children (sometimes on audiotape) and helping children with their school homework during visits. A few programs include special visiting situations where children may be able to spend extended time or even overnight with their mothers and may include special use (separate from other inmates) of the prison recreation or dining areas.
