Describe the training paradox.

What will be an ideal response?

Some businesses, small and large, shy away from training because they think that by upgrading the skills of the workforce, their employees will be more marketable to competitors. That is true. However, there is also an interesting paradox that affects both employee and employer. That is, if an employee takes charge of his or her own employability by keeping his or her skills updated and varied, so that he or she can work for anyone, he or she also builds more security with his or her current employer-assuming the company values highly skilled, motivated employees. This is the training paradox: Increasing an individual's employability outside the company simultaneously increases his or her job security and desire to stay with the current employer (assuming that the employer creates challenging jobs and provides an exciting work environment).
