Outline how a B lymphocyte is stimulated to react against a thymus-dependent antigen

When an antigen presenting cell displays antigen in context with MHC Class II molecules to a T helper cell, the T
helper cell then binds to and stimulates the corresponding B cell by producing various interleukins. For example,
IL-2 stimulates both B and T helper cells, while IL-5 and IL-6 induce B cells to become antibody-secreting plasma
cells and memory cells. Antigen presenting cells include macrophages, dendritic cells, and B cells themselves. B
cells are capable of binding with antigen, internalizing it, and then presenting it to T helper cells in conjunction
with MHC class II.
