What are some of the advantages and disadvantages to conducting interviews over the Internet and email using asynchronous methods?
What will be an ideal response?
An advantage is the ability to keep questions private. No one can add to, delete, or interrupt the questioning. There is no need to worry about coordination across busy schedules or times zones. Fatigue is not an issue. A major disadvantage is that there are no visual cues or ability to spontaneously generate probing questions. Subjects are limited to those who have access to a computer and an email account.
