Ans: This question can be approached a number of ways, but students should clearly be able to distinguish the premodern and modern worlds, and be able to discuss how the French and Russian revolutions contributed to the modern world, and to discuss the places of capitalism and democracy. They should also be able to address the phenomenon of postmodernity and describe the changes involved in that.
