Describe the ways in which high stakes testing has changed classroom instruction.
What will be an ideal response?
High-stakes testing has had a number of effects on instruction. First, the range of skills or the curriculum has narrowed. Teachers now spend more time teaching to the test. Students read more texts that resemble what is on the test namely short passages. Longer texts and novels are more scares. Finally, students take more tests, interim test, practicing for the high-stakes tests. Time for instruction has decreased.
