Describe the term workability in terms of dealing with mortar characteristics.

What will be an ideal response?

Workability is a term used to describe the condition of a mortar that will spread easily, cling to vertical surfaces, extrude easily from joints but not drop off, and permit easy positioning of masonry units. It is a condition of the mortar that is influenced by other properties, such as consistency, water retention, setting time, weight, adhesion, and penetrability. Masons judge workability by observing how the mortar slides or adheres to their trowel.
