When you decide to create an outline in Word to use as the basis for a PowerPoint presentation, how should you proceed?

When you open a new document in Word, click the Outline View button on the status bar. As you type your outline text, use the Promote and Demote buttons in the Outline Tools group to apply a level for each line of text. Word applies the Heading 1 style for slide titles, Heading 2 for the first level of indented text, and so on. It's important to use the built-in heading styles in Word when you create your outline because the heading tags determine the structure of the outline when it is inserted into PowerPoint. When the outline is complete, be sure to save the file as a Rich Text Format (.rtf) so you won't have any problems converting the file for use in PowerPoint.
