Discuss the major global plate tectonic events of the Mesozoic Era. What will be an ideal response?

The major global event during the Mesozoic Era was rifting of the supercontinent Pangaea.
This had profound effects on both geology and climatic patterns. The opening of the Atlantic
and Indian Oceans changed climate patterns because the resulting continents were smaller
and there were no mountains barriers to produce a rainshadow effect producing conditions
that were, not as arid. The continents took on a more present-day shape. The Ring of Fire
around the Pacific was a direct result of the shrinking of Panthalassa to form the Pacific
Ocean and the formation of subduction zones.
