What will be an ideal response?
Use the following procedure to complete a curve-fit with Excel:
1. Right-click on any of the plotted data points on a graph to bring up a menu.
2. Select the Add Trendline option from the menu.
3. The next menu will bring up six different function-type options to fit the data: (i) Linear, (ii) Logarithmic, (iii) Polynomial, (iv) Power, (v) Exponential, and (vi) Moving Average. Choose one function type and any additional functional information (like the order of the polynomial).
4. In the Options menu, choose to Display the equation and/or the R2 quality factor of the fit on the graph.

Metropolitan Water Utilities purchases surface water from Elephant Butte Irrigation District at a cost of $100,000 per month in the months of February through September. Instead of paying monthly, the utility makes a single payment of $800,000 at the end of each calendar year for the water it used. The delayed payment essentially repÂresents a subsidy by Elephant Butte Irrigation DisÂtrict to the water utility. At an interest rate of 0.25% per month, what is the amount of the subsidy?
