How did the vocally-based blues become a primary foundation for instrumentally-based jazz?
What will be an ideal response?
Many of the musical elements of the blues were replicated in jazz. For example, the standard AAB form of the blues was frequently used as a formal basis of jazz works. Melodically, the blues scale that developed in vocal blues was also used by jazz musicians. The rhythmic flexibility of the blues was equally present in jazz. Other similarities include musical techniques such as sliding into pitches (which can be imitated instrumentally) and use of call and response.
