Answers will vary considerably but should include that environmental influences shape the leaders’ skills by influencing the individual attributes, competencies, and leadership outcomes in the skills model. Leaders learn from dealing with outside and inside influences they could not have anticipated. An example answer might be: this learning can shape their motivation to continue to work hard (individual attributes), their social judgment ability to perceive the needs of others (competencies), and their effectiveness in handling an unforeseen problems (leadership outcomes).
