Why is reabsorption of water from the bladder or cloaca essential for sauropsids?
What will be an ideal response?
Uric acid, the primary nitrogenous waste for sauropsids, is very insoluble and precipitates from dilute urine. Excreting uric acid in solution would require enormous amounts of water, but uric acid can be excreted in a semiliquid form by the reabsorption of water when the urine reaches the bladder or cloaca, concentrating the solution and causing uric acid to precipitate.
