What types of things may damage a fuel cell?

What will be an ideal response?

There is a long list of things that can damage the cells themselves, including most oils, any particulates at all such as dirt, sand, rust, or dust, metal shavings, fingernails, paint thinner, hand cleaner, gasoline, blood, pipe dope, and sweat. In particular, anything containing rare earth elements (there are many of these) must be avoided, since these elements will react vigorously with hydrogen. Care should also be taken when dealing with any lubrication oils since many systems use specific oils that will not vaporize and thus contaminate any air stream within the fuel cell or reformer.
