By evaluating each interview as soon as possible, students will remember more of the critical details that will help them to follow up with an employer and help them improve their performance for future interviews.
(These items are from CAW 11-3: Summarize and Evaluate Your Interviews.) Name and title of each person you interviewed with; your most important qualifications for this job that can be referenced in follow-up letters; list of questions you could have answered better (and write out a better answer for next time); list of important information about your qualifications that you forgot to mention (but might add in a follow-up note); questions you didn't ask but would like to, given an opportunity; list of what you did well and where you could improve; what you learned about the interviewers that could be helpful in building rapport (e.g., hobbies); list of points of possible confusion that may need clarification for the employer; date and time for any follow-up meetings, interviews, or tests; list of follow-up actions requested by the interviewer (e.g., send a transcript); preference noted by interviewer on how to communicate (e.g., email, phone, text); date when the hiring decision is expected to be made.
