The technical director or TD is responsible for readying and maintaining the theatre space, ensuring that the theatre is safe, and keeping all equipment and stage machinery in working order. He/she executes the set designer's plans, sometimes runs the scene shop, supervises technical rehearsals and fixes any technical problems that arise, oversees the load-in of the scenery and the strike.
