The creation of a separate system of justice for juveniles brought with it a set of terms describing the processing of children accused of committing delinquent acts that differentiated it from the adult system. These terms reflect the protective and rehabilitative nature of the juvenile system in contrast with the punitive nature of the adult system. Answers will be subjective.
