at this point in time the three fundamental forces are gravity, the electroweak, and the strong force. The electromagnetic and weak forces were proven to be facets of the same force in the 1970's. GUT's strive to further unify the three forces into 2 or even just 1.

Two satellites with equal rest masses are traveling toward each other in deep space. One is traveling at 0.550c and the other at 0.750c. The satellites collide and stick together. What is the speed of the combined object after the collision?

A parallel plate capacitor is charged to voltage V and then disconnected from the battery. Leopold says that the voltage will decrease if the plates are pulled apart. Gerhardt says that the voltage will remain the same. Which one, if either, is correct, and why?
a. Gerhardt, because the maximum voltage is determined by the battery. b. Gerhardt, because the charge per unit area on the plates does not change. c. Leopold, because charge is transferred from one plate to the other when the plates are separated. d. Leopold, because the force each plate exerts on the other decreases when the plates are pulled apart. e. Neither, because the voltage increases when the plates are pulled apart.
In a certain material there is a current of 16 A flowing through a surface to the left, and there is an equal amount of positive and negative charge passing through the surface producing the current. How much negative charge passes through the surface?
a. 16 C/s toward the left c. 8 C/s toward the right b. 16 C/s toward the right d. 8 C/s toward the left
