What physiological processes occur in response to an increase in blood pressure? What will be an ideal response?

Concepts to Consider: Baroreceptors in the walls of the arteries and heart are sensitive to
blood pressure changes. Increases in blood pressure stretch baroreceptors; message is sent to
medulla; cardiac center of brain stimulates parasympathetic nerves that slow the heart down;
pressure is lowered. Also, vasomotor center of brain inhibits sympathetic nerves that cause
vasodilation, so pressure is lowered.
