Outline the judging approach to hunt seat equitation over fences classes.

What will be an ideal response?

Equitation classes are judged on the position and effectiveness of the rider. These can be judged on the flat (under saddle classes) or over fences. Proper body position of the rider requires that the person sit in the middle of the saddle with weight evenly distributed on each side of the horse. A straight line should be drawn from the rider’s ear to hip or heel. Riders may incline slightly at the posting trot or hand gallop. A straight line should also be drawn from the rider’s elbow to hand and the horse’s bit. The hands and arms should be relaxed with the thumbs pointing inward at a 30-degree angle. Riders should not move excessively when riding, and their cues should be virtually invisible to the onlooker_
