The SETT framework focuses on considering the students, setting (environment), and tasks to make technology decisions. When considering the student, the framework involves exploring the student’s needs, strengths, challenges, and preferences. The setting is also important, such as all the physical environments the student might access throughout the day as well as the resources and attitudes in those settings. Next, tasks are analyzed to determine the activities students do within their settings. When the student, setting, and tasks are known, then appropriate assistive technologies are considered.
