Explain why some drugs are classified as DMARDs. What is the difference between a DMARD and an NSAID?
What will be an ideal response?
Drugs that can actually change the course of a disease, making the disease less severe or progress more slowly, are called "disease-modifying." DMARDs slow the progression of rheumatoid arthritis. An NSAID does not change the underlying mechanism of rheumatoid arthritis or change the course of the disease; NSAIDs only relieve some of the symptomatology.
