List the principles of a 2 g Na diet


1 . Decrease the Na intake by not using salt at the table and using salt sparingly in cooking, usually no more than ΒΌ teaspoon/day.
2 . Avoid foods, snacks, and condiments high in Na (list to be given to patient by RD).
3 . Substitute low-Na seasonings for salt (list to be given to patient by RD).
4 . Increase K intake if low Na is for HTN and kidneys are functioning properly.
5 . Increase Ca intake.
6 . Reduction of body weight if overweight.
