Discuss the development of angiosperms from gymnosperms. What will be an ideal response?
The large gymnosperms included seed ferns, ginkgos, and the conifers. The plants had seedbearing
cones. Cycads were later gymnosperms that developed during the Triassic. The
flowering plants, angiosperms, probably developed from the gymnosperm in the Early
Cretaceous-Late Jurassic. The development of angiosperms is intimately related to that of
insects and birds because they commonly depend on these animals as pollinators.
