International Crime Victimization Survey—To improve cross-national comparisons, Jan Van Dijk and his colleagues developed the International Crime Victimization Survey (ICVS) in 1989 to assess victimization rates in different parts of the world. Since the survey was created, it has been conducted six times. The results show differences in victimization rates for each victimization type across all countries, suggesting that the presence of specific factors in each country influences victimization risk.
