Describe some of the major accomplishments since the inception of the battered women's movement

What will be an ideal response?

Answer: The battered women's movement began as a grassroots movement and is still strong today. Some of the major accomplishments since it started include the fact that victimization rates have been stable since 1994. Victims have been identified and consist of 85% female and 15% male victims. Public awareness of this issue is a major victory of this movement. Various intervention strategies have been established that include services, shelters, hotlines, and police response. Protection and prevention efforts are included in civil and criminal actions that previously were not available before to victims. A frequent response by the courts for perpetrators is batterers' programs and educating people on the topic through media and classrooms across the country.
