Discuss the benefits of mate choice.
What will be an ideal response?
Several reasons can be given to represent the benefits of mate choice. If, for example, the male assists in the offspring care and rearing, then a benefit is gained by the female because her alleles are more likely carried forth to the next generation. If the male does not provide direct care, but provides a territory with adequate food and cover, the female benefits as above.
